| RASCALS LEAVE TOWN WITH SERIES WIN
Evansville, IN – Who knew what the River City Rascals needed was a road trip? River City, who had not won a road series all season, got their first as they took two of three from the Evansville Otters following an 8-4 win Tuesday night. The Rascals first five runs scored with two outs, including two innings in which they scored three runs of more, this coming from a Rascal team averaging three runs per game in their past ten. With two outs, Jeff Miller doubled and was knocked in by Ryan Wehrle’s single in the top of the first inning off Adam Rogers to make it 1-0. With two outs in the fifth and down 3-1, Miller, Wehrle, Laurent and Sweet all connected for hits as the Rascals put up a four spot to take back the lead 5-3. Toro Trevino made his return to the Frontier League and Rascals debut on the mound. The right-hander who was traded to the Rascals from the United League, went five innings and allowed three runs for the win. He was helped by his bullpen in the seventh. After Adam White and Adam Tollefson allowed a run and loaded the bases with two outs, Jonathan Miller came in and closed the door. Miller got Nick Jaros to ground out to end the inning. A one run lead is all Miller needed, but the Rascals gave him more anyway with three in the eighth off Tristan Facer and Bradley Blanks. With one out and Laurent at second, pinch hitter Chris Raniere connected on an infield single. Jacob DeBoer was walked to load the bases and Greg Stone and Luke Barganier cleared them with a pair of singles to make it 8-4. Miller who go on and notch a 2.1 inning save, his second, striking out three in the process and retiring all seven he faced. Rogers (5-4) went six innings and allowed five earned on nine hits in the loss. River City (28-35) has won two straight and now travels to Chillicothe, Ohio for a three game series against the Paints as the nine game road trip continues.
