| FREEDOM END RASCALS STREAK AT FIVE
Florence, KY – The five game winning streak came to a close Saturday night as the Florence Freedom road two big innings to victory in a 10-5 win over the River City Rascals. Scott Fogelson started for River City, working off of a complete game shutout his last outing, and allowed six runs, five earned in the first two innings. Kelly Hunt drove in a run in the first with a bloop single, then five runs came home in the second. The first three Freedom reached against Fogelson to load the bases. Justin Randall then connected for his second hit, a double down the left field line, to score two. Josh Lex would follow the double with a two run single. Hunt would come back up and float a hit into center field which left three Rascals looking at one another to score the final run of the second inning and it was 6-0. The Rascals would chip away at the lead. Starting with a run in the third inning as Luke Barganier grounded out to score Andrew Sweet. With two outs in the fifth inning the Rascals put up a pair thanks to back-to-back RBI doubles by Barganier and Brad Hough, making the score 6-3. Dan Maycock connected on this third home run in four games as a Rascal to make it 6-4 in the sixth, but that is as close as the visitors would get. Fogelson was chased in the seventh, an inning the Freedom would score four runs in, to put away the Rascals. The final was charged to Dustin Corbett who made his first appearance after coming back from the retired list. Chris Raniere singled home the last Rascal run in the eighth to make it 10-5. Ryan Ashner came out of the pen and worked 1.2 innings of shutout baseball in his professional debut. Fogelson (3-7) went 6.1 innings, allowing nine runs and eight earned in the loss. Andy Clark (7-1) picked up the win despite allowing four earned runs in 5.2 innings. The Rascals (31-36) send Toro Trevino (1-0) to the mound in game two of the series Sunday night at 6:05 EST against former Rascal Gary Lee.
