| WIN-DY CITY TAKES GAME ONE FROM RASCALS
Crestwood, IL – As good as the River City Rascals have been over the past two weeks, they have had a problem in game one, as they fell to Windy City 10-3 Tuesday night. The Rascals have won five straight series but have now dropped game one in each of their past four. The Windy City Thunderbolts put this game out of reach early against Chris Clem. The right-hander did not walk one batter in his previous start lasting 8 1/3 innings against Chilliocthe for the win, but walked six over four innings in the loss Tuesday. Clem (6-6) allowed six runs on seven hits. Windy City scored one in the first and two in the second to take an early 3-0 advantage. The Thunderbolts then put things out of reach in the fifth. Clem walked the first two batters before loading the bases on a Phil Hawke single. Clem’s night was done in favor of Tim Stringer who only retired one in five batters, allowing four runs and three hits. The last hit was Danny Sawyer’s fourth home run of the season, a two-run shot to left. Windy City scored seven in the inning and led 10-0. Meanwhile, Ross Stout was working on his fifth complete game of the season, cruising right along until the seventh. Andrew Sweet knocked in the Rascals first run with a single in the inning. Jeff Miller, who went 2-4 with a double, added an RBI single in the eighth and Greg Stone singled in the last run in the ninth. Stout (8-3) picked up the complete game win, allowing three runs on seven hits, while walking two and striking out six. The Rascals (37-39) take on Windy City for game two of the series Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. as Scott Fogelson (4-7, 5.18 ERA) makes the start for River City.
