NO BUMS FOUND HERE, RASCALS FALL 11-4

Traverse City, MI – The Traverse City Beach Bums did not waste any time Wednesday night getting to Toro Trevino and the River City Rascals.

The Beach Bums raced out to a seven run first inning capped off by a Jeff Brown grand slam on their way to an 11-4 win.

For Trevino it marked his shortest start in five chances as the right-hander was taken out after retiring only two batters. He fell to 2-3 after allowing seven runs on four hits and three walks.

Chris Raniere gave the Rascals some life in the top of the second when he hit his second home run in three games, this a two run blast off all-star Ryan Gehring to make it 7-2.

But the Beach Bums would add to their lead in the fourth off Jonathan Miller. The Rascals closer was brought in to stop the bleeding in the first inning and the Beach Bums finally got to him in the fourth with a two out single by Kyle Maunus to score Steve Young from second.

Tim Stringer started the fifth inning for the Rascals and walked three and gave up a hit without retiring a batter. The Beach Bums would score three in the inning as Adam White had to come in to get out of the jam.

River City would later add runs in the seventh and ninth innings off singles by Curt Marchall and Luke Barganier.

Gehring (5-7) went six innings for the win even though he allowed 11 hits. The Rascals out hit the Beach Bums 14-8 but River City walked nine batters as a staff to the Bums one. Rascal outfielder Dan Maycock made his second appearance for River City on the mound in the eighth and sat Traverse City down 1-2-3.
