| MAYCOCK BOMBS AWAY FOR GAME WINNER
MARION, IL – For just the second time in 41 chances, the River City Rascals rallied when trailing after seven innings. Dan Maycock hit a three-run home run to center field in the eighth inning for the game winning hit as the Rascals downed the Southern Illinois Miners 6-5 Friday night at Rent One Park. For Maycock, it was hit first hit in 12 at-bats and seventh home run as a Rascal. Jonathan Miller worked two innings for his seventh save of the season. The right-hander entered in the bottom of eighth inning with the tying run at first and Brandon Jones at the plate. Miller struck out Jones and got Eric Suttle to hit into a 4-6-3 double play to end the inning. The Miners went in order in the ninth. Maycock’s home run in the eighth inning capped a five run rally, most of it against their former teammate Armando Carrasco. With one out, Luke Barganier singled and Brad Hough reached on a fly ball which was dropped in right by Suttle at the wall. After a walk to Laurent loaded the bases, Jeff Miller drove in two with a single to left. Carrasco would give way to Griffen Bailey who got the second out of the inning before giving up the three run blast to Maycock. Bailey (5-5) took the loss for Southern Illinois. Ryan Ashner relieved Adam White in the seventh and pitched a scoreless inning to improve to 1-0. The Rascals improved to 2-2 against the Miners in Marion this season and moved to 44-47 with the win.
