Bat and Ball Kids

 

Bat and Ball Kids are a necessary part of the River City Rascals baseball team. They help our players and Clubhouse Manager before, during, and after the game, making sure all the on-field needs are met, so everyone can play their best each and every game! As a Bat or Ball Kid, you will get to meet and talk with the players and coaches, learn inside tips on what "pro baseball" is all about, and see each and every play from the field!


All kids scheduled will need to wear athletic clothes or baseball/softball pants as well as tennis shoes. No cleats allowed! Everyone needs to be present a minimum of 30 minutes before game time. Games should be rescheduled 48 hours prior to game time.


 

Bat Kids: This job is not for everyone - the Bat Kid positions is a demanding job requiring stamina and a positive attitude. Every day holds a unique experience often with tight timelines, so Bat Kids need to be smart, dependable, alert, and flexible. All Bat Kids must be ages 14 and older to comply with Frontier League rules. Bat Kids will receive $10 in Rascals' Bucks for each game they attend.

Duties:
• Stock home and visitor dugouts with water jugs, cups, and gum
• Stock home and visitor clubhouses with supplies
• Communicate with Clubhouse Managers to ensure that all on-field supplies are full
• Any other task that may be assigned by the Clubhouse Manager
• Time commitment of 4.5 - 5 hours on game days. Bat Kids start one hour prior to game time and are finished roughly 45 minutes after the game

Requirements:
• Must be able to work night, holidays, and weekends
• Must be permitted to work 5 or more hours and work games that last past 10 PM
• Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions (rain, heat/cold)
• Must be able to work in an adult male clubhouse environment
• Just be physically able to do all the running around, such as grabbing discarded bats and rounding up baseballs


Ball Kids: This job is perfect for anyone 11 and older who wants to be a part of the game day atmosphere! All Ball Kids will have the opportunity to sit on the field during the game and help collect balls as they go into the corners. At the end of each inning, the Ball Kids can come into the dugout, return the balls, and cheer on our players before returning back to their post! The Ball Kid position is ideal for anyone who is not old enough to be a Bat Kid but still wants to be involved with the team during the game. Ball Kids will receive $10 in Rascals' Bucks for each game they attend.

Duties:
• Collect balls during the game that come down the warning track or into the corners
• Any other task that may be assigned by the Clubhouse Manager
• Time commitment of up to 3 hours on game days. Ball Kids start 15 minutes prior to game time and are finished immediately after the game.
