River City Rascals designated hitter Paul Kronenfeld was named the Frontier League's Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. Kronenfeld helped lead the Rascals to a 4-2 record over the last week while hitting safely in all six games. He posted a .583 average while notching 14 hits, one double, six home runs and 15 RBIs, including a three-home run, eight RBI performance against the Normal CornBelters on Friday August 17th.
Kronenfeld debuted in the the Frontier League in 2016 with the Schaumburg Boomers, and started the 2017 season with the New Britain Bees of the Atlantic League before signing with the Rascals on July 14, 2017. Kronenfeld was drafted out of Catawba College in the 25th round of the 2014 MLB draft by the Cincinnati Reds and spent two seasons in their system. The Greensboro, North Carolina native is hitting .301 this season with 21 homers and 62 RBIs and is currently riding a 12-game hitting streak.
This is Paul's second career Player of the Week award, having also earned the honor in July of 2016 while playing with the Schaumberg Boomers.
