SAUGET, Ill. -- The River City Rascals suffered just their third shutout loss of the season on Saturday night, falling 5-0 to the Gateway Grizzlies in the middle game of the series. The Grizzlies now lead the series 2-0. The Rascals were held to just four hits on the night.
Connor Owings put the Grizzlies on the board with a two-run double in the second, and Andrew Daniel added a two-run home run in the third. Gunnar Buhner's lead-off blast in the fourth was the final run scored in the game.
Rascals starter Keenan Bartlett (2-2) took the loss, allowing five runs over seven innings with seven strikeouts. Grizzlies starter Reign Letkeman (4-4) earned the win, going five scoreless innings and allowing only two hits.
The Rascals (52-38) will look to salvage a game against the Grizzlies (36-53) in the series finale tomorrow night, with first pitch set for 6:05 p.m. CDT from GCS Ballpark.
